The Parrotts

Sarah, Simon and their children Sam and Chloe came to visit us today. Sarah is one of my oldest friends (in terms of how long I have known her, not how old she is!). We went to primary and secondary school together.

She lives in Horsham now but was 'up north' as they are going to an athletics evet in Birmingham tomorrow as Simon is doing a lap on honour due to all the fundrasing has been doing.

It was lovely to see them and have a cuppa before the headed off into Birmingham. Madelyn missed the photos as she was having her nap. She has been feeling poorly for the last few days but was much brigher this after noon.

NCT lunch

I was back in Croydon for results day today so took the opportunity to have lunch with my NCT group. It has been a while since we have all been together so it was really lovely to see everyone. The babies are all getting bigger and developing their own little personalities!

Huntingdon

We went to Huntingdon today, about a 40 minute drive. Bob was keen to go and have a look around while they were in the area because he has been looking into his family history and found out that his grandfather worked at the mill there.

The Mill

The Mill is now flats but it was nice to sit and have lunch by the river and have a mooch around the town.

Swimming

We took Madelyn (and grandma) swimming again today. She really enjoys it! This is a photo of her in her baby wet suit. It keeps he really warm, she was happy to play and splash for about 40 mins today.

She is getting braver and gave herself some big splashes in the face today!! She coughed and spluttered a bit but then did it again so she can't be too bothered.

After swimming we went into Harborough with Pat and Bob for a bit of a mooch, some coffee and a cake.

Grandma and Grandpa

Andy's mum and Bob arrived for a weekend visit today. Madelyn was pleased to see them and got down to playing straight away!

She is getting stronger and seems to be on the point of crawling but is just not quite coordinated enough!

My Birthday

On my birthday we went swimming and had some 'inflatable fun' the kids enjoyed the inflatable and the slide and Madelyn loved it! We bought her a little baby wetsuit and it kept her really warm. We were there for 45 minutes and she had a fabulous time. She just about managed to stay awake while she got dried and dressed but craved out being carried back to the car.

Birthday Lunch

I was really luck to have plenty of people to help me celebrate my birthday! Emma, Nick and the kids drive up on Friday (nightmare trip due to road works but arrived safely) and stayed for the weekend.

We all went for lunch at The Old Red Lion due to Andy hearing that they did a 48oz steak! We got there and they did! In the end Andy went for a 24oz and Nick had a 36oz t-bone. We all had a lovely lunch, including Madelyn who found a tasty menu!!

Stanwick Lakes

On saturday we went to the lakes (the third time for us but first for the Aldriches)

It wasn't as warm as we'd hoped but the kids still had a good time despite both Wills and Abs falling over!

Madelyn had a great time on the swings and in the sand.

Foxton Locks

Mum and Dad came to visit for the weekend so we did some sightseeing.

A short drive away is Foxton Locks which is the longest run of staircase locks on the Grand Union Canal. There are 10 locks in the run and we saw plenty of boats using them.

We spent a while chatting to people about how they worked and saw a lady get into a bit of a panic when she did it wrong and flooded a lock and the surrounding grass (a family having a picnic had to scarper a bit quick!)

We found a lovely pub for lunch. We were lucky to choose Friday as we were told that the pub gets so busy at the weekend that you can't get a drink let alone anything to eat!
