Auntie Vic Visits

Vic came to visit us this weekend. It is the first time she has been to our new house and it was lovely to have her here. Madelyn had a lovely time playing with her and seemed fascinated by someone who sounds a lot like me... but isn't!
We went to Leicester on Saturday for a mooch around, and some lunch, got some free cookies, came home and went to The Old Red Lion for dinner; steak all round (except for Madelyn who was asleep).

Madelyn has changed a lot this week it seems. She has been on the move for a couple of weeks but is now much faster! She has also started to pull herself up to her feet... a bit of a surprise when I went to get her after her nap!

She also has her first tooth! She had a rough day last Friday and over the weekend we saw what looked like a little dent in her gums. Over this week the dent has turned into a little tooth...it is just poking out now and we can see it. I have been trying all week to take a photo of it but Madelyn keeps either moving or covering it up with her tongue!

We had a lovely weekend but Andy and Madleyn did need some time to recover...

First day at school

Like teachers across the land I went back to school today! And Madelyn had her first full day at her childminders. She went for two half day try-outs last week so I knew she'd be fine.

As usual, with all new jobs, there are changes to get used to... the usual things: different people, different commute, different terms for familiar things, different classrooms etc. But there were some unusual things too! Firstly getting stuck behind tractors! There were two I had to overtake this morning. The drive is about 25 mins but nothing like driving in Croydon. Much more open and farmy like!

The second strange thing was seeing rabbits in the school grounds! There was one hopping about outside my classroom and one in the playground as I left...I bet they will make themselves scarce once the pupils arrive back though!!

Madelyn had a great day. She went to the park, played on the swings, dropped Isi (the childminder's daughter) at nursery and got fussed by all the ladies there, crawled around all over the place, played with bubbles and sat in the bubble solution, waved and chatted to everyone! No wonder she crashed out straight away after her bottle!

All in all a busy but positive start to the week.
